Kelly plays a vital role at Lobster Pictures, with her job spanning from Administration in her Office Manager guise, all the way to Operations.
When you call our office, it will usually be Kelly who you speak to. She will either solve your query on the phone, or put your through to the specific department you're after.
A true creative and always a safe pair of hands, Kelly is a ray of sunshine around the office... and what she doesn't know about films isn't worth knowing! We often joke that we don't know what we'd do without her.

Tell us about your role at Lobster
My role at Lobster is a real split role - so half of it falls into Operations and the other half is the day to day running of the office. The Ops side means working closely with our Senior Camera Technician Harry, and includes tasks such as writing RA/MS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements), booking travel and accommodation, organising moves and de-rigs and talking to contacts on site, whereas the Office Manager side is all about keeping the troops happy. This can be anything from ordering stationary and completing supplier forms, to ensuring our team's safety and accreditations are kept up to date. I'm affectionately called the 'Office Mum'!
How long have you worked here?
In June, it will be three years. I started off as Office Manager and the role has grown from there.
What did you do before this role?
What haven't I done! I initially went to art school and studied illustration, with a bit of travelling in between. I did lots of temping, first at a Norwegian kitchen company and then in a TV production company, where I stayed for almost 10 years. I was the 'Office Mum' there too; looking after the runners, storyboarding, making props... I once had to make a whole team's worth of football shorts from the 1920s!
After that I went to an environmental company, then was in Post Production for about 5 years before coming to Lobster Pictures in 2016.
What does a typical day look like for you?
The one thing I love about this role is that there is no typical day! At some point each day I do a building walk-through, checking things like the alarms and the sign-in board. I always have an eye on installs taking place that day, so I make sure everything is progressing smoothly on site. I book travel for any client meetings, complete supplier forms and order kit to actually make the Lobster Pot cameras too... so all that usually keeps me busy! As I work in Operations, there's certainly always something to do.
What's the best part of the job?
I love how random my day can be - there's certainly no two days the same. I love the trust and belief Lobster Pictures puts in their team and there's a real family feel in the office. We're also still small enough as a company to identify opportunities and be able to make quick changes to benefit from them.
What's the toughest part?
When there are things on site that go wrong outside of our control, such as weather that means we can't go ahead with an install, that can be hard.
I recently passed my SMSTS course recently and now have such an appreciation for the challenges Site Managers face on a construction site. I feel having this qualification has really helped me to provide a better service to our clients and help them problem solve.

What do you like doing outside of work?
I absolutely love films and spend a lot of time in the Watershed here in Bristol. I'm also a huge fan of books, podcasts... and gin!
What advice would you give to a school leaver looking to move into a similar role?
Try things and learn on the way! Meet lots of different types of people and really listen to each of them. But most of all, believe in yourself.
